UM Hosts PBK National Secretary/CEO Frederick Lawrence for First-Ever Virtual Induction Ceremony

The Pandemic has brought about many changes, but the transition to the virtual world of Zoom classes, meetings and events is perhaps the most significant adaptation society has made recently.  Phi Beta Kappa Secretary and CEO Mr. Frederick M. Lawrence was slated to serve as keynote speaker for UM’s twentieth induction ceremony in April of 2020; however, UM Phi Beta Kappa elected to forego the induction ceremony due to the onset of the Pandemic. For the 2021 ceremony, the Chapter decided to offer a virtual induction ceremony like so many of its sister chapters across the globe. Mr. Lawrence readily accepted the Chapter’s invitation to serve as guest speaker in the virtual ceremony. UM is so grateful to Mr. Lawrence for the words of wisdom he imparted on this year’s initiates.

A recording of the 2021 virtual induction ceremony is available here.
